History of Clinton Park

Clinton Park: A Houston Hope Community

Janis Scott, Houston’s bus lady, fights for her transit lifeline
[see the 14-page story in the Houston Chronicle, about how Ms. Janis Scott saved the #30 Clinton Bus from being eliminated]

  • While looking at her daily planner, Janis Scott, 60, smiled saying “I have so many events scheduled I have to make sure I know what I’m doing,” she said as she rode the Metro Route 30 bus next to fellow rider, Walter Simpson, right, while on the way to a museum exhibit at Texas Southern University Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, in Houston. Scott, who is retired, is known by many as “The Bus Lady,” because she uses public transportation from her home near the ship channel on Houston’s east side and to travel to free events from morning until night almost daily.
