METRO Special Board Meeting — Monday, June 18, 2012 at 6:00 P.M.
I hope that all of you are aware of the discussions going on about METRO’s General Mobility Program, its funding, and the upcoming referendum for voters. As laid out and voter-approved in METRO’s referendum in 2003, the General Mobility funding must be again presented to voters within the METRO service area.
METRO currently receives 1 penny of the sales tax in its service area; 75% of the 1 penny METRO uses to fund its operation, and 25% of the 1 penny METRO issues to the local governing bodies for mobility projects.
METRO is taking public comments as it determines the said ballot language. One special Board meeting has already taken place. The next METRO Board meeting taking public comments on the General Mobility subject is Monday, June 18, 2012; 6:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M., at 1900 Main St., Houston, TX 77002, at METRO’s Administration Building. For this special meeting regarding METRO’s general mobility program and the future referendum, you can sign up to speak the day of the meeting at the sign in tables, which will be located on the 1st floor.
